Visions Of Australia To Tour Country

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

Communities across the country will have the chance to enjoy exhibitions from leading Australian cultural institutions thanks to the Visions of Australia regional exhibition touring program.

Seven arts and cultural institutions across the country will share a diverse range of exhibitions, particularly with regional and remote venues.

This program gives Australians greater access to participate in arts and culture in their local communities.

Funding recipients in this round include:

  • Museum and Gallery Services Queensland to tour Veiled Histories a compelling exhibition honouring two First Nations artists Jennifer Herd (MBarbarum) and Joanne Currie Nalingu (Gungurri) featuring their works from 1983 to present.
  • Museum of Australian Photography to develop for touring The World Came Flooding In an immersive installation centred on the intimate stories of life during natural disaster.
  • Australian National Maritime Museum to tour Valerie Taylor - An Underwater Life which celebrates the marine conversation pioneer and provides access to images, writings and 3D scans of objects from the museum's collection which have never previously toured.

Minister for the Arts, Tony Burke, said the program was helping to share important stories beyond our major cities.

"We have a thriving arts and cultural scene that should be shared with all Australians regardless of where you live.

"There's a place for every story and a story for every place, and now, the stories behind these unique exhibitions will be able to travel to our regional and rural areas too."
