Camden Council is currently seeking community representatives to join the Floodplain Risk Management (FRM) Advisory Committee. The FRM Advisory Committee is a vital group that helps to manage the floodplains and flood risks within the Camden area.

Three volunteers are needed from the Upper South Creek catchment area, which includes the suburbs of Gregory Hills, Gledswood Hills, Oran Park, Catherine Field, Leppington, Bringelly and Rossmore.

Another two volunteers are needed from the Narellan Creek catchment area, which includes the suburbs of Narellan, Narellan Vale, Harrington Park, Currans Hill, Kirkham, Elderslie, Smeaton Grange and Mount Annan.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Ashleigh Cagney, said committee members would collaborate with Council staff, engineers and emergency services

"It's this collaboration that will help shape the floodplain risk management plans for your area," Cr Cagney said.

"Our volunteers are so important on groups and committees just like this one, because they bring their local knowledge and lived experiences.

"If you live in the Upper South Creek or Narellan Creek catchment areas, have an interest in flood risk, community safety or local planning and can commit to participating in committee meetings and discussions, I strongly encourage you get involved."
