Western Australian creatives are heading to Japan to showcase their work in front of international audiences at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka.
The Cook Government is a Gold Partner of the Australia Pavilion which provides a uniquely Australian experience under the theme of 'Chasing the Sun'.
The impressive line-up of WA artists heading to Japan include Maatakitj, who is receiving State Government support to present concerts in Noongar language during First Nation's Week.
Co3 Contemporary Dance will present excerpts from its new work 'In the Shadow of Time' created in collaboration with the Australian Chamber Orchestra and with costume design by Akira Isogawa.
DADAA will be showcasing curated screen content in collaboration with Community Arts Network and Martumili Arts. Other WA artists in this year's program include musicians Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse, and First Nations fashion label Kirrikin, showcasing its designs.
The Cook Government has also supported a number of WA artists and arts organisations to be a part of the Australian Pavilion's 2025 Cultural Program, which is coordinated by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
As stated by Creative Industries Minister Simone McGurk:
"The 2025 World Expo in Osaka, Japan is an exciting opportunity for Australia to connect with and share our culture and stories with international audiences.
"The Cook Labor Government continues to support our WA artists and arts organisations to showcase our creative industries in Japan.
"It is anticipated that 15,000 or more visitors a day will visit the Australian Pavilion which will showcase our people, creativity, natural environments, technology and economic capabilities to the world."
