- 200 wines from 30 WA wineries to feature in WA Fine Wine Shanghai Showcase
- Wine industry collaboration to drive demand for premium WA wines
- Cook Government committed to diversifying WA's economy by providing quality jobs and business opportunities
The Cook Government is supporting a bespoke trade promotion in China this week to capture export market opportunities for premium Western Australian wine.
The WA Fine Wine Shanghai Showcase features 200 offerings from 30 leading wineries from Margaret River, the Great Southern, Swan Valley, Geographe, and Pemberton.
International importers, distributors, and hospitality sector representatives will sample and delight in a selection of top WA red and white wines.
The showcase, hosted in partnership with Wines of Western Australia, will connect prospective buyers with suppliers, while exploring the unique characteristics, diversity, and provenance of the boutique collection.
WA wine exports to China have grown by 65per cent in value and 39 percent in volume for the year to September 2025, due to a shift in demand to premium wines and a growing interest in white wine.
International wine buyers have descended on Shanghai to source product for Chinese New Year, following the recent China International Import Expo (CIIE) and for the world's biggest wine and spirits trade exhibition ProWine later this week.
The Cook Government supported a WA display at CIIE, which included 24 businesses spanning alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, seafood, honey, dairy, fibre, and packaged goods.
China remains Western Australia's largest market for agrifood, fisheries, and forestry exports in 2024-25, valued at $3.14 billion, accounting for 25 per cent of the State's exports
