The second stage of the Belong recruitment campaign, targeting nurses and midwives living in Western Australia, launches this week.
The recruitment campaign is an expansion of the Belong campaign which showcases the benefits and opportunities of working for WA Health, to international and domestic audiences.
Since 2017 the State Government has grown the health workforce by over 20 per cent, including over 3,300 new nurses, 1,200 new doctors and over 1,400 new allied health workers.
The State Government continues to actively recruit skilled and experienced health staff to strengthen our workforce and has a range of initiatives to attract staff.
The State Government has recently fast-tracked the one-off $3,000 Cost of Living Payment for current nurses and midwives as well as the first year of a wage increase of a minimum of $3,130 per annum increase or 3 per cent (whichever is greater), back dated to 12 October 2022.
This is part of the State Wages Policy, which provides eligible nurses and midwives wage increases ranging from 3 per cent to 4.5 per cent per annum, for two years. In addition to this, employees are also provided with a 0.5 per cent per annum increase in superannuation for two years.
Work has commenced to introduce historic nurse/midwife to patient ratios via a phased approach over two years. Targeted financial assistance is also provided to nurses and midwives by way of scholarships for upskilling.
Eligible WA nurses and midwives can also participate in a pathway to refresh their clinical knowledge and skills prior to re-entering the workforce.
