A man who allegedly abused AFP officers and workers at Perth Airport is expected to appear in Perth Magistrates Court today (4 February, 2026) charged with disorderly conduct.
The AFP charged the Perth man, 44, over an incident on 6 January, 2026, when he allegedly became aggressive after being told he was too intoxicated to travel.
He first came to the attention of workers in the T1 international terminal about 5am after a member of the public complained he was allegedly being a nuisance to other travellers.
Perth Airport and airline staff spoke to the man, who had allegedly consumed multiple alcoholic drinks while waiting to board a flight overseas. When the man was told he was being refused uplift for being too intoxicated, he allegedly became aggressive and abusive.
The AFP was called to assist and while officers were escorting him from the terminal he allegedly shouted and swore at officers.
The man was charged with one count of disorderly conduct in a public place, contrary to section 74A(2)(a) of the Criminal Code 1913 (WA). The maximum penalty for this offence is a $6000 fine.
AFP Acting Superintendent Hayly Faithfull said the AFP was committed to protecting the safety of the public and staff at Perth Airport.
"No travellers or workers should have to witness, or be subjected to, disruptive or abusive behaviour at airports or on flights," a/Supt Faithfull said.
"The AFP works closely with partners in the airline industry to intervene and put people before the courts if their behaviour is allegedly unlawful."
