A West Australian man was scheduled to appear in Midland Magistrates Court today (11 November, 2025), accused of using a hidden camera to film women changing in a bathroom without their consent.
The AFP allegedly found videos of four women during an examination of the man's electronic devices, which investigators seized when they executed a search warrant at a Jandakot property in September (2025) as part of an investigation.
The man, 25, has been charged with one count of installed an optical surveillance device to record visually private activities to which he was not a party, contrary to section 6(1)(a) of the WA Surveillance Devices Act.
The women in the videos, who were allegedly filmed while they were in the bathroom of a residential house, have been notified and are assisting police.
AFP Detective Superintendent Peter Chwal said adults and children had a right to feel safe and should not have their private activities exposed for another person's gratification.
