The WA Virtual Emergency Department (WAVED) is expanding to provide more people with access to emergency care from the comfort of their own homes.
Through a partnership between the Department of Health and Healthdirect (external site), eligible adult callers to Healthdirect on 1800 022 222, can now be referred directly to WAVED between 8am and 10pm for clinical assessment – avoiding the need to attend an emergency department (ED).
Delivered through the State Health Operations Centre, WAVED is helping to keep Western Australians healthy and out of hospital, ensuring they receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
By connecting people virtually to an emergency doctor or nurse and helping them access the most appropriate care close to home, WAVED is delivering real results for patients and helping take pressure off our EDs.
