WA Reflections is back for season two

  • State Library's WA treasures brought to life through film partnership with Screenwest
  • $79,000 to support local filmmakers
  • Applications are now open via the Screenwest website
  • After a successful debut season, the State Library of Western Australia and Screenwest are partnering to produce season two of 'WA Reflections - Our History Rediscovered'.

    WA Reflections is a capacity building program for Western Australian filmmakers to produce short documentary films, which will uncover and help share treasures from the State Library's collections.

    Filmmakers are invited to submit proposals based on a range of Western Australian heritage collection materials identified by the State Library.

    Up to six films will be produced with a budget of $15,000 per film and are expected to be released and available on the State Library's website in early 2023.

    Applications are open, and the guidelines and eligibility criteria are available on Screenwest's website at https://www.screenwest.com.au

    As stated by Culture and the Arts Minister David Templeman:

    "I loved all the films in season one of WA Reflections. They demonstrated the depth of talent among our local filmmakers and showcased the amazing stories that can be found at our State Library.

    "I encourage everyone to check out these short films through the State Library website.

    "This is a great creative partnership between the State Library and Screenwest to support Western Australian filmmakers and demonstrates the strength of our creative industries."
