- WA Seniors Week runs from 9-16 November 2025
Grant funding is now available for local governments, registered not-for-profit organisations and community groups across Western Australia to celebrate WA Seniors Week 2025.
Seniors Week celebrates the role of older people in our communities, promotes positive ageing, and encourages the active participation of older Western Australians.
Seniors Week 2025 runs from 9-16 November, with events and activities held across WA, including the WA Seniors Awards.
Community-level organisations and local governments across WA are invited to apply for grant funding to stage events and activities during Seniors Week.
The Seniors Week Community Grants Program focuses on initiatives that recognise and celebrate older Western Australians for their contribution to the community and offer activities that encourage active ageing.
Grants up to $3,000 can be used to meet event-related costs such as advertising and promotion, catering, venue and equipment hire, and transport.
There will also be an emphasis on promoting intergenerational activities linking seniors to the community, and support for people who experience disadvantage or isolation, to attend events and activities during Seniors Week.
Additionally, nominations for the WA Seniors Awards 2025 can be made by organisations or individual members of the public. The WA Seniors Awards acknowledge and celebrate the contributions of exceptional older people and those who support older Western Australians.
This year there are five categories: WA Senior of the Year - Metropolitan; WA Senior of the Year - Regional; WA Age Friendly Business of the Year; WA Age Friendly Local Government of the Year, and WA Seniors Advocate of the Year.
Grant applications and awards nominations close on Friday, 5 September 2025. Awards will be presented during Seniors Week.
As stated by Aged Care and Seniors Minister Simone McGurk:
"The grants provide community groups across Western Australia the opportunity to design, plan, implement and evaluate local activities that connect seniors with their community.
"Seniors Week celebrates the important role of seniors in our communities and encourages participation in community life, particularly for isolated individuals.
"Nominations are now open for the WA Seniors Awards, which acknowledges and celebrates the contributions of exceptional seniors and people supporting older Western Australians."
