The West Australian Symphony Orchestra (WASO) will strike a chord with regional residents when they tour a full orchestra of 70 musicians to Kalgoorlie and Bunbury this month. Starting in Kalgoorlie, the August tour will be led by esteemed Principal Conductor Asher Fisch and will see WASO present a selection of popular classical music including a violin concerto and a full symphony, before taking the same program to Bunbury.
The orchestra caps off their 2025 touring season with an October tour to York and Bunbury, where audiences will get to experience the full force of WASO’s brass and percussion musicians up close.
The orchestra’s touring activities will also include free daytime performances and workshops for schools, community centres and local music groups from a variety of WASO ensembles. WASO musicians will visit local schools and aged care facilities in Kalgoorlie, providing inspiring free music experiences for locals. The musicians will also visit schools and community venues for engagement activities in Toodyay, Northam, York and Bunbury.
WASO’s 2026 touring program will be announced later this year.
The tours have been made possible by the Cook Government's commitment of $215,000 in funding over two years.

"Our government wants everyone to experience the incredible performances of WASO - and understands the importance of the State's full orchestra being seen in our regional areas.
"It is great news for regional people that WASO will be visiting regional Western Australia and I know they will be well received.
"These tours will provide meaningful opportunity for schools and community groups to work with a full orchestra and learn about and experience classical music."
