WA Symphony Orchestra Tours with Classical Hits

  • Cook Government is taking classical music on tour by providing $215,000 to take WA Symphony Orchestra across Western Australia
  • Full orchestra to visit five WA regions
  • Free interactive performances, school workshops and community open rehearsals

The Western Australian Symphony Orchestra (WASO) will strike a chord with regional residents when they tour a full orchestra of 70 musicians to Kalgoorlie, Bunbury, Mandurah and Albany.

Starting in Kalgoorlie in August, the tour will be led by esteemed Principal Conductor Asher Fisch and will see WASO present a selection of popular classical music including a concerto with soloists and a full symphony.

The tours will include free interactive performances and workshops in schools, as well as side-by-side workshops for community musicians, open rehearsals for community groups and a performance for residents in an aged care facility.

Outreach programs visiting Northam, York and Bunbury will see 16 brass and percussion musicians delivering a popular repertoire arranged by tour leader Joshua Davis.

The tours have been made possible by the Cook Government's commitment of $215,000 in funding.
