Wanted man charged after pursuit at Dubbo

A man wanted on outstanding warrants has been charged following a pursuit with police in the state's Orana region.

About 10.40am today (Tuesday 30 August 2022), officers attached to Western Region Enforcement Squad and Orana-Mid Western Police District attempted to stop a white Ford Territory on Websdale Drive, Dubbo, to speak with the driver.

The driver failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated, before it was terminated a short time later on the Newell Highway.

A short time later the vehicle was located abandoned on Darling Street. With the assistance of the police dog, officers arrested a man inside a unit nearby.

The vehicle was seized for forensic examination.

The 28-year-old man was taken to Dubbo Police Station where he was charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.

Officers also executed two outstanding arrest warrants for firearm, drugs and traffic related offences.

The man was refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 31 August 2022).
