Warragul police make quick arrests after Moe burglary

Warragul police swiftly arrested two men following a burglary at a fast-food restaurant in Moe early this morning.

Police were initially called to the Moore Street business after an alarm went off about 1.40am on Wednesday, 5 January.

Investigators were told offenders stole an amount of cash from a safe before taking off in a waiting vehicle.

About thirty minutes later, Warragul police were conducting patrols when they observed a 2016 Ford sedan travelling on the Princes Highway in Drouin.

Officers intercepted the vehicle and spoke to the driver, a 39-year-old Reservoir man, before locating cash, a sledgehammer and allegedly stolen paperwork inside the vehicle.

The driver and his passenger, a 31-year-old Drouin man, were arrested and taken to a police station where they are assisting police with enquiries.

The investigation remains ongoing.
