Warwick Climbs To Record High In European Rankings

The University of Warwick has moved up five places in the latest QS World University Rankings: Europe 2026 to a record high position of 17th.

Warwick was noted for its strengths in:

  • 'Employer Reputation' rising one place to 15th
  • 'Academic Reputation' maintaining its place at 26th
  • 'International Student Diversity' soaring 50 places to 32nd

Welcoming the news Professor Stuart Croft, Vice-Chancellor and President, University of Warwick, said: "Achieving our highest ever place in the QS Europe rankings recognises the world class research and teaching that we offer at Warwick. This is the latest in a series of rankings that show we are a top performer nationally and internationally, and our entire community should be proud of their efforts building a dynamic, forward-thinking, global institution."

The QS World University Rankings: Europe 2026 also noted Warwick's strengths in key areas including international outlook and sustainability. Both sectors are pillars of Warwick's Excellence with Purpose university strategy that is guiding Warwick to 2030 and helping the University to build a positive, lasting impact for years to come.

These improved rankings show the deep value Warwick places on being an outward, international university, which was also recognised by the UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA) who named Warwick 'Institution of the Year'.

Celebrating the achievement Professor Michael Scott, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International), University of Warwick, said: "Warwick is a proudly international and proudly European university. We are a founding member of the Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities – a proactive group of 23 Universities strengthening the voice of Universities in Europe – and a founding member of the EUTOPIA University Alliance – a dynamic network of ten European universities and six global partners – working towards closer research collaboration and greater student opportunities across borders.

  • 'Employment Reputation' (8th)
  • 'Employment Outcomes' (8th)
  • 'Academic Reputation' (10th)
  • 'Inbound Exchange Students' (10th)

Commenting on Warwick's performance, QS notes: "The University of Warwick breaks into the top 20, climbing five places to 17th. It has improved in key areas in the Global Engagement lens, including International Faculty, International Students and Inbound Exchange Students."
