Water Supply Safe Amid Murrumbidgee Channel Works

Griffith City Council wishes to assure residents that drinking water remains safe and secure during the current winter maintenance activities being undertaken by Murrumbidgee Irrigation (MI).

As part of MI's routine winter works program, the Main Supply Channel may appear to have reduced water levels or appear empty in certain sections. This is a standard maintenance procedure and does not impact the reliability or quality of Griffith's town water supply.

Council would like to reassure the community that no water is being sourced from Lake Wyangan for town water use. Our water treatment processes remain robust and meet all regulatory standards for public health and safety.

Griffith City Council maintains a strong and collaborative working relationship with Murrumbidgee Irrigation to ensure continuity of essential services and the long-term sustainability of our water network.

We thank the community for their understanding and cooperation as MI completes these important works.
