A team of a different kind is preparing for the City of Greater Geelong Run4Geelong on Sunday 9 November.
The City's Parks & Natural Assets crew literally puts in the groundwork from dawn each day to ensure the waterfront is looking its best for everything from family picnics to festivals, and the annual Barwon Health Foundation event next weekend.
Beyond being naming rights partner of the Barwon Health fundraiser, the City is proud to keep the foreshore primed for our community members and visitors to enjoy.
This means mowing the grass to the perfect height, clearing pathways, pruning garden beds, and enriching the soil with compost produced right here in the City. The team also spreads mulch and operates the irrigation system to help everything thrive.
In addition, they maintain the waterfront pool, bluestone retaining walls, and picnic shelters. Remarkably, this is just a snapshot of their work.

City of Greater Geelong CEO and Run4Geelong community ambassador Ali Wastie
The City is proud to get behind Run4Geelong in more ways than one. We have employees participating in the event and working behind the scenes to ensure it's a success.
Waterfront Landscape & Maintenance Officer Jono Hagen
Grass is meant to be enjoyed, and it bounces back beautifully. Nothing makes us happier than seeing people out enjoying the waterfront and making the most of the space.
