Western Australia coronovirus update as at 1 April 2021

The Department of Health has reported two new cases of COVID-19 overnight.

The new cases are travellers from overseas – a male in his 50s and an 11-month-old boy. Both are now in hotel quarantine.

The State's total number now stands at 944.

WA Health is monitoring 17 active cases of COVID-19 and 918 people have recovered from the virus in WA.

To date, the WA Department of Health has administered 53,482 COVID-19 vaccinations, including 7177 people who have received both doses. Yesterday, 2724 people were vaccinated.

Yesterday, 575 people assessed for testing at WA Health COVD clinics and 573 were swabbed.

There have been 947,084 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those, 135,622 were from regional WA.

To date, 40 cases of variant strains have been detected in Western Australia – 28 of the B.1.1.7 strain,11 of the B.1.351 strain and one of the P1 variant (Brazilian variant).
