Western Australia coronovirus update as at 20 May 2021

The Department of Health has reported one new case of COVID-19 overnight.

A man in his 20s returning from overseas travel and is in hotel quarantine.

The State's total now stands at 1016.

WA Health is monitoring seven active cases of COVID-19 ­– 1000 people have recovered from the virus in WA.

To date, the WA Department of Health has administered 139,289 COVID-19 vaccinations, including 32,368 people who have received both doses. Yesterday, 2751 people were vaccinated.

There have been 1,150,843 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those, 149,103 were from regional WA.

To date, 95 cases of variant strains have been detected in Western Australia – 52 of the B.1.1.7 strain, 15 of the B.1.351 strain, 27 of the B.1.617 strain (Indian variant) and one of the P1 variant (Brazilian variant).
