Western Australia coronovirus update as at 24 May 2021

The Department of Health has reported one new case of COVID-19 overnight.

The man in his 50s is a returned overseas traveller and in hotel quarantine.

The State's total now stands at 1017.

WA Health is monitoring four active cases of COVID-19 ­– 1004 people have recovered from the virus in WA.

Yesterday, 265 people were assessed for testing and swabbed at WA Health COVID clinics.

To date, 96 cases of variant strains have been detected in Western Australia – 53 of the B.1.1.7 strain, 15 of the B.1.351 strain, 27 of the B.1.617 strain (Indian variant) and one of the P1 variant (Brazilian variant).**
