Western Australia coronovirus update as at 28 May 2021

The Department of Health has reported no new cases of COVID-19 overnight in WA.

The State's total remains at 1017.

WA Health is monitoring two active cases of COVID-19 ­– 1006 people have recovered from the virus in WA.

The State Government has also issued advice for travellers (external site) who have recently returned from Victoria, as a public health alert has been issued for parts of Melbourne.

Anyone who has travelled from Victoria is asked to continue to monitor the Vic Health website (external site) for updated exposure locations.

Yesterday, 3575 people were swabbed at WA Health COVID clinics with a further 3542 at private clinics.

A list of public and private testing clinics is available on the Healthy WA website.

If you are a Western Australian who is asymptomatic and have not recently been to Victoria, please do not present for testing.

To date, 96 cases of variant strains have been detected in Western Australia – 53 of the B.1.1.7 strain, 15 of the B.1.351 strain, 27 of the B.1.617 strain (Indian variant) and one of the P1 variant (Brazilian variant).**
