- Perth named 2027 World Police and Fire Games host city
- Olympic style multi-sport event set to attract thousands of visitors to Western Australia

The Cook Government has secured hosting rights for the 22nd edition of the World Police and Fire Games.
A global spectacle, the biennial event attracts law enforcement and emergency services personnel from more than 70 countries to compete across 65 sporting events.
Set to entice thousands of visitors to the State, including 8,500 athletes, the Olympic style multi-day showcase is expected to deliver significant economic, tourism and employment benefits to Western Australia.
This major international event pays tribute to and acknowledges the selfless commitment of global first responders in serving their communities and humanity more broadly.
The inclusive nature of the World Police and Fire Games invites active, retired and volunteer members from Police, Emergency Services, Corrections and Customs to take part. Beyond the competitive and friendly sports schedule, the program will also include various social, legacy and community programs, implemented leading up to, during and following the games.
The Perth Games will mark the third time an Australian city has held this prestigious event, following Melbourne in 1995 and Adelaide in 2007.
The successful bid was presented by the Cook Government and Western Australian Police Sports Federation Inc (WAPSF) in collaboration with the Western Australia Police Force, Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) and Corrective Services, supported by the City of Perth and VenuesWest.

As stated by Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti:
"We've had an incredible year of huge events in Western Australia, and are very excited to welcome thousands of visitors to our State in 2027 as part of the World Police and Fire Games.
"Of course, we know that many of the athletes, coaches and spectators use these types of events as an opportunity to travel to new destinations, so I really hope and encourage those who travel to Perth in three years' time to extend their travel and turn it into an unforgettable holiday exploring our beautiful State.
"Mass participation events like the World Police and Fire Games are all part of our Government's events and overarching tourism strategies, because they deliver huge benefits for our State's economy in terms of visitation and tourism spend.
"Last financial year, mass participation events made a significant contribution to our economy, with 12 events generating $96 million in impact so we're very keen to keep building on these, with events like the World Police and Fire Games."

"Emergency services workers are often passionate about health and fitness because of the very physical demands of their roles. This will guarantee local crowds will be treated to high quality competition when teams from more than 70 countries compete here in 2027.
"This is a coup for Perth to host a sporting event of this nature with the eyes of the world being drawn to the land down under for this gladiatorial showdown.
"Sport is an incredible platform to build teamwork, facilitate camaraderie and boost mental wellness and this is a focus that is encouraged and fostered within WA's emergency workforces."
