Western Sydney University makes ground in Young University Rankings

Western Sydney University has improved its position in this year's influential 'Times Higher Education Young University Rankings', ranking 34th in the world and 6th in Australia.

The 2021 rankings assessed 475 universities from around the world under 50 years old, with the University building on its 2020 rank of 36th and 2019 rank of 58th.

Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Barney Glover AO said the result reflected the institution's world-class research, teaching and engagement, and is testament to the sustained efforts of the University community, particularly during the challenges to the sector over the last 18 months.

"Western Sydney University continues to be acknowledged on the global stage as a dynamic and innovative institution that is making significant impact in the communities we serve," said Professor Glover.

"I congratulate and thank everyone across the University community for their contributions to this excellent result."

The Times Higher Education Young University Rankings assess universities under 50 years old on a range of performance indicators such as research, teaching excellence, international outlook, connections with industry, and innovation.
