Wetherill Park RES charge four after seizing 5kg of 'ice', $54,000 cash and designer goods

Wetherill Park RES investigators have charged four people after seizing 5kg of methylamphetamine (ice), $54,000 cash and designer goods, following an investigation into illicit drug supply across Sydney's south west.

As a result of Operation Trident, an ongoing South West Metropolitan Region Operation targeting mid-level crime, officers from Wetherill Park Region Enforcement Squad (RES) established Strike Force Ouse in September this year to investigate the activities of a criminal syndicate involved in the supply of prohibited drugs – mainly methylamphetamine (ice) and heroin.

Following extensive investigations, Wetherill Park RES, with assistance from South West Metropolitan Operations Support Group (OSG), executed three search warrants at homes at Smithfield and Oran Park from 9am yesterday (Wednesday 18 November 2020).

During the search, officers seized 5kg of methylamphetamine (ice), with an estimated potential street value of $800,000.

Prohibited drugs including cannabis and a large amount of unidentified white powder were also seized.

Investigators also seized $54,000 cash, ammunition, an extendable baton, mobile phones and a large number of designer clothing, merchandise and jewellery.

A BMW valued at $210,000, a Toyota Corolla valued at $40,000, a jet ski and a quad bike were also seized.

All items will undergo further examination.

A 31-year-old woman and three men – aged 30, 36 and 62 – were arrested during the operation and taken to Fairfield Police Station.

The woman was charged with take part supply prohibited drug (large commercial quantity), participate criminal group contribute criminal activity, owner/occupier knowingly allow use as drug premises, supply prohibited (large commercial quantity) and possess prohibited drug.

The 30-year-old man was charged with three counts of supply prohibited drug (large commercial quantity), owner/occupier knowingly allow use as drug premises, knowingly direct activities of criminal group, deal with property proceeds of crime and possess prohibited drug.

The 62-year-old man was charged with supply prohibited drug (large commercial quantity), two counts of possess prohibited drug, owner/occupier knowingly allow use as drug premises, deal with property proceeds of crime, goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (not motor vehicle), possess ammunition w/o holding licence/permit/authority and possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit.

Police will allege in court that the group were involved in a criminal syndicate allegedly supplying prohibited drugs across Sydney's south west.

All three were refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court today (Thursday 19 November 2020).

The 36-year-old man was charged with participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court on Monday 14 December 2020.
