What's Happening In Hills This February

February is packed with exciting things to see and do across The Hills! Celebrate Lunar New Year at our vibrant street festival, dive into hands-on sustainability activities, or discover a new skill at one of our interactive workshops.

With sunny days and warm evenings, it's the perfect time to join Council-run events, get involved in community programs, and make the most of the last month of summer!

Here's our guide to February:

Ride into the Year of the Horse with the biggest Lunar Festival yet

2pm - 9pm, Saturday 28 February 2026 | Castle Hill Main Street, Old Northern Road

Come and celebrate the Year of the Horse at our Hills Lunar New Year Street Festival!

This year's festival is set to be BIGGER and BETTER, with Castle Hill Main Street closed to traffic for the first time in a decade.

Indulge in authentic Asian delicacies with food trucks and stalls serving dumplings, Ramen, Japanese street food, Dragon Beard Candy, bubble tea and more.

Enjoy live performances, traditional lion dances, prize giveaway, FREE craft activities and face painting, FREE live portrait illustrations by artist Quirkimi and a pickleball court!

End the night with a spectacular fireworks finale!

Attendees are encouraged to use public transport, with Castle Hill Metro Station located directly adjacent to the festival.

Bee Curious with Little Eco Warriors

Join beekeeper Duncan for a fun, hands-on journey into Australia's native stingless bees.

Kids will explore the world of bees, Indigenous traditions, and nature's sweet secret while learning how to care for our environment by taking only what's needed and protecting our buzzing friends sustainably.

Give your gadgets a new life at our E-Waste Plus Event

9am - 3:30pm, Saturday 21 February 2026 | Castle Hill Showground

Mark your calendars for our free E-Waste Drop-Off event! Drop-off a range of household items for recycling, including e-waste, soft and hard plastics, polystyrene and textiles.

This event is exclusively for residents of The Hills Shire - proof of residence is required at drop-off.

Craft your own recycled purse

10am - 12pm, Tuesday 24 February 2026 | The Hills Shire Council

Celebrate World Wetland's Day and join us for a hands-on workshop where you will transform your soft plastics into a no-sew purse!

During the workshop, you will also learn how to identify different types of plastics, why some are trickier to recycle than others, and what steps you can take to reduce your soft plastic waste at home and at work.
