The Allan Labor Government is making one of the Dandenong Ranges newest parks even better, with additional facilities, paths and carparking for the growing number of families looking to get pout and explore the park.
Minister for Environment Steve Dimopoulos today announced $2 million to help fund the stage two works at the park, increase the scope of planned works to include new amenities and improved pathways for visitors
This includes a new toilet block located close to the playspace, carparking improvements, new shelter facilities, landscaping, and a connected pathway to the Olinda township.
Importantly it also allows for the creation of a formalised entry and exit point to Olinda-Monbulk Road which will improve safety for drivers and pedestrians, while stormwater drainage works will prevent water from pooling in the carpark.
Stage One of the Olinda Precinct works have already been completed and included new and improved netball and cricket facilities, an all-abilities playspace, new barbecues, picnic shelters, seating, walking trails and an off-lead dog area.
The Government has invested $13 million to deliver the upgrades to the Olinda Precinct. Located on the former Olinda Golf Course which stopped operating as a golf course in 2012, and was subsequently opened to the public as informal parkland.
The Olinda Precinct Plan was developed in consultation with the community. The Stage Two works are expected to be completed next year and are being delivered by Parks Victoria.
Additional visitor experience improvements at the Olinda Precinct will come from the opening of a new café run by Alchemy Distillers Pty Ltd, who will renovate the former golf course clubhouse into a vibrant new venue.
