Free daily circus performances and fire shows are set to make Canberra's City Centre come alive these July school holidays as City Renewal's Winter in the City delivers 10 days of free, world-class entertainment for Canberrans and visitors to enjoy.
Running from Wednesday 8 to Saturday 18 July 2026, a 14-metre-wide elevated stage on City Walk will host 40 high-energy performances. Each day of the program features the new production from the internationally renowned Circus Oz followed by three spectacular fire performances by Flux Entertainment.
Circus Oz return following a run of ticketed touring performances in New York and the premiere of their new show at the Melbourne Comedy Festival. They are bringing Here, There and Everywhere! to Winter in the City, offering audiences an opportunity to experience Circus Oz for free.In true Circus Oz fashion, the show is a fusion of comedy, clowning, acrobatics, sly jokes, flying trapeze, juggling, and daredevil stunts.
Flux Entertainment will light up the night with three choreographed fire performances each evening. Known for their visually stunning shows that blend cutting-edge performance art with crowd-thrilling energy, Flux continue to captivate audiences across Australia.
"The event continues to be a key part of activating the city during the colder months," said Jennifer Ramsay, Executive Group Manager, Enabling Operations, City Renewal Authority.
"It's a free event that supports local businesses, activates the city, and helps position Canberra as a go-to winter destination.
"In 2025, Winter in the City program attracted more than 41,000 attendees and contributed an estimated $4.4 million in expenditure impact to the City Centre. We hope that we see a similar number of Canberrans enjoying the free entertainment this year".
City Walk's Centro Café will run a hot chocolate stall alongside a winter bar from Central Social Club, giving attendees something to enjoy during the shows. Between performances, visitors are encouraged to explore nearby restaurants, bars, and cafés, with a range of options listed with the event program at InTheCity.com.au
Winter in the City is co-funded by the City Centre Marketing and Improvements Levy. There will be no shows on Monday 13 July to give performers a rest during the Winter in the City program.
