Winterlight cancelled in response to ongoing COVID restrictions

City of Parramatta Council has cancelled its popular annual winter event, Winterlight, after postponing it in response to the COVID-19 outbreak in Greater Sydney.

Winterlight, which includes the Winter Village and some school holiday activities, was scheduled to take place in Parramatta's Prince Alfred Square from 19 June to 12 September 2021.

"With so much uncertainty around how long the current COVID-19 restrictions will last, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our much-loved Winterlight event, including the Winter Village," City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Bob Dwyer said.

"We had explored a number of options to reschedule the festivities but unfortunately due to ongoing public health concerns Council is unable to deliver the event.

"While I understand this will be disappointing for many, the safety of our staff and community is our key priority.

"I would like to thank the community for their continued understanding at this difficult time, as well as those who supported Winterlight including suppliers, entertainers and food vendors."
