Witness appeal following Geelong pursuit

Police are appealing for witnesses following a pursuit in Geelong this afternoon, Victoria Police say.

Members attended a Paraparap address following reports of a burglary this afternoon where a white Corolla with no number plates was allegedly seen leaving the property.

Police came across the vehicle on Townsend Road in Whittington about 1pm where a pursuit was initiated.

The man has dumped the car on Thenton Street in St Albans Park and fled over several fences with police on his trail.

He has stolen a black Holden Cruz from the backyard of a nearby residence and driven off.

Police continued to pursue the man who dumped the vehicle in Emerald Street in Belmont and again fled on foot.

He was arrested by members in nearby Thomas Street about 1.45pm.

He remains in custody assisting police with their enquiries.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed either car driving through the Geelong area to contact Crime Stoppers.
