The WMO Regional Association VI (RA VI) has released the second edition of the Services and Applications Training and Resource Toolkit, focusing on data resources supporting weather, climate, hydrological and environmental services .
Building on the first edition, the new toolkit provides a curated guide to selected data platforms, repositories and visualization tools to help NMHSs, researchers and partners discover, access and use relevant observations, climate datasets, hydrological information and environmental data.
The second edition builds on the first edition of the toolkit , which brought together training materials, operational guidance, case studies and knowledge resources supporting the development and delivery of weather, climate and hydrological services across the Region.
Recognizing the increasing importance of accessible, reliable and well-documented data for service development, the new edition provides an overview of selected data platforms, repositories and tools supporting NMHSs, researchers and partners.
Organized around practical user needs, the toolkit guides users to resources for:
- discovering observation networks and operational data;
- analysing current and past climate conditions;
- accessing climate datasets and projections;
- exploring hydrological and water-related information;
- finding specialized environmental datasets;
- identifying training opportunities to strengthen data-use skills.
The toolkit highlights resources from WMO and partner organizations, covering a wide range of applications, from operational weather observations and climate monitoring to hydrological information systems and environmental research datasets.
By improving access to relevant data resources and supporting knowledge exchange, the second edition contributes to strengthening regional capacity for the development and delivery of effective weather, climate and water services across RA VI.
The RA VI Services and Applications Training and Resource Toolkit is a living resource and will continue to evolve as new platforms, datasets, tools and learning opportunities become available.
