Wodonga Council Welcomes New Executive Leaders

Wodonga Council has appointed new senior leaders to key executive roles, marking an exciting step forward for the organisation and the year ahead.

Brent Quill commenced in the role of Director Corporate in late-January after more than two years as the council's Manager Finance. Brent's transition into this role recognises his strong leadership capability, financial expertise and extensive organisational knowledge.

Sarah Ryan has begun today in the role of Director Community and Partnerships, bringing a distinguished background in strategic leadership driving growth, investment attraction, advocacy and community planning.

Danny Muldeary will take on the role of Director Infrastructure after more than five years working within the council's Projects and Assets teams, most recently as Manager. In his time at the council, he has delivered some of the organisation's most significant recent projects, including the development of Hyphen - Wodonga Library Gallery and Baranduda Fields Sporting Complex.

Danny will complete his transition into the role in March, ahead of the retirement of longstanding Director Leon Schultz in April.

The return to a three-director structure reflects the organisation's current needs and will strengthen leadership capacity, balance workloads and bring together a broad mix of skills, experience and perspectives.

It also supports the delivery of the Council Plan 2025-2029 and the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan 2025 - 2029 by reinforcing accountability and organisational focus in implementing the actions and outcomes set out in each document.

Wodonga Council CEO Matt Hyde said the appointments marked an exciting step forward.

"This structure provides continuity while also introducing fresh thinking and diverse experience at the executive level," he said.

"We've appointed three outstanding leaders who bring intelligence, integrity and a genuine commitment to our community.

"Together, Brent, Sarah and Danny will provide strategic guidance at an organisational level and oversee the delivery of the services our community expect and depend on.

"Their combined experience and leadership will support effective decision-making and reinforce Wodonga Council's capacity to deliver consistent, high-quality outcomes while also positioning the organisation to respond to future priorities."

Mr Hyde also took the opportunity to acknowledge the contribution of former Director Community and Corporate Dena Vlekkert, who departed in January to take up the General Manager role at Greater Hume Council, as well as Director Schultz ahead of his retirement.

"I extend my sincere thanks to both Dena and Leon for their leadership and years of valuable service to our organisation," he said.

"I wish them well in their next chapter, both in a new role and in retirement."
