Woman assaulted; police appeal for assistance - Merrylands

Police have released an image of a woman they would like to speak with following an assault at Merrylands yesterday.

Just after 2.30pm (Thursday 21 March 2019), a 32-year-old woman boarded a bus on Argyle Street at Parramatta, with her young child in a pram.

While on the bus, police have been told another woman continuously verbally abused her.

When both women exited the bus on Sherwood Road at Merrylands, the unknown woman assaulted the 32-year-old and tore her chain from her neck before biting her ear.

The woman fled, and emergency services were alerted.

Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

The woman was taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

An investigation into the incident is underway and police are appealing for public assistance to identify and locate the woman involved.

She's described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in her mid-30s, with a thin build. She was wearing a green shirt.
