A woman has been charged after police seized more than $200,000 cash and 4000 tins of baby formula in Sydney’s north-west overnight, NSW Police say.
In February, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad received information from retailers relating to the coordinated theft of baby formula and vitamins across Sydney.
Strike Force Dungv was subsequently established to investigate the theft and distribution of the items.
Following extensive inquiries, strike force detectives arrested a 48-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man at a carpark on Lloyd Avenue, Carlingford about 10pm yesterday (Wednesday 22 August 2018).
The pair was taken to Ryde Police Station.
Shortly after the arrests, investigators executed two search warrants at homes at Carlingford, where they located more than 4000 tins of baby formula, large quantities of vitamins, Manuka honey, and various other items, all of which are believed to be stolen.
Police also located more than $215,000 cash hidden throughout one of the homes, which was seized as alleged proceeds of crime.
The woman was charged with knowingly direct activities of criminal group, knowingly participate in criminal group assist crime, three counts of participate criminal group contribute criminal activity, and recklessly deal with proceeds of crime.
She was granted strict conditional bail and is due appear at Burwood Local Court on Monday 17 September 2018.
The man was released pending further inquiries.
Investigations under Strike Force Dungv are continuing.
