Woman charged over death of toddler in western NSW

Detectives investigating the death of a toddler in the state’s north-west almost two years ago have arrested and charged a woman in connection with the case, NSW Police say.

The 40-year-old woman was arrested about 12.40pm yesterday (Monday 8 January 2018) in Geurie, about 30km from Dubbo, by Orana-Mid Western Police District detectives attached to Strike Force Toora.

Strike Force Toora has been investigating the death of a 20-month-old boy on Monday 23 March 2015.

Emergency services had been called to a home on Merrygoen Road at Neilrex, about 60km south of Coonabarabran, about 5.15am that day.

The woman was taken to Dubbo Police Station where she was charged with murder and refused bail.

She will appear in Dubbo Local Court today (Tuesday 9 January 2018).
