Woman charged over Melbourne CBD robbery and assault

Police have charged a woman following a robbery and assault in Melbourne's CBD last night.

It's alleged the victim was approached and physically attacked by a woman on Elizabeth Street about 9.45pm.

The woman allegedly stole the victim's mobile phone and handbag and fled the scene.

She was located by officers on Flinders Street and subsequently arrested.

The victim, a 49-year-old Richmond woman, received non-life-threatening injuries and was assessed by paramedics at the scene.

A 39-year-old Melbourne woman was subsequently charged with robbery, theft, recklessly cause injury, assault by kicking and common law assault.

The woman will appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 11 September.
