Woman in court charged after fatal crash near Leeton

A woman will face court today charged over her alleged role following a fatal crash near Leeton earlier this year.

Officers from Murrumbidgee Police District will allege in court that the rear door of a home in Cudgel Street, Yanco, was allegedly kicked in and a resident threatened shortly after 11pm on Tuesday 4 April 2023.

About 15 minutes later, a vehicle being driven along Research Road left the road and crashed. The occupants of the vehicle – a 36-year-old woman and three boys aged 10, 11 and 12 – all died at the scene.

A crime scene was established, and investigations commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

During the course of the investigation, a 32-year-old man was charged, and he remains before the courts.

Following extensive inquiries, a 50-year-old woman was arrested at Griffith Police Station about 1pm yesterday (Friday 23 June 2023).

She was charged with predatory driving, driver not disclose identity of driver/passenger as required and hinder investigation serious indictable offence of other.

The woman was refused bail to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Saturday 24 June 2023).

Inquiries are continuing.
