Police are investigating a carjacking in Sydney’s west, NSW Police say.

About 10.15pm yesterday (Tuesday 6 November 2018), a 65-year-old woman attended a fast food restaurant on Richmond Road, Blacktown.

As she was leaving, she entered her vehicle, a Mazda 3, and was approached by an unknown male who dragged her out of the driver’s seat.

The male then entered the car and drove from the car park. The woman was still hanging out of the vehicle and was dragged along the roadway for about 20 metres before being thrown free.

The car then continued to travel south on Richmond Road.

Officers from Blacktown Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene in the car park.

The woman was taken to Blacktown Hospital with lacerations to her head and limbs.

About 12.30am today (Wednesday 7 November 2018), the stolen car was located by police on Greenwood Grove, Blacktown.

About the same time, a 16-year-old boy was arrested on Gibbons Street, Redfern, after being involved in an altercation with a male.

Officers allegedly located the Mazda’s keys in his possession.

The boy was charged with aggravated assault with intent to take and drive motor vehicle – inflict actual bodily harm, drive unlicensed, goods in personal custody suspected of being stolen, and breach bail

He was refused bail to appear at Surry Hills Children’s Court today (Wednesday 7 November 2018).
