Work starting on Wordsworth Street in Byron Bay

Lumpy road surface with cars angle-parked on both sides.

Council will start a major upgrade of Wordsworth Street in Byron Bay on 24th July.

The $1 million project will include:

  • a new carpark
  • renewal of the road surface
  • improved drainage
  • landscaping.

Wordsworth Street runs between the Byron Bay Police Station and the old Byron Bay hospital.

The upgrade works will also provide additional car parking required for the redevelopment of the old hospital site.

The street will be closed to traffic and there may be minor traffic delays on Shirley Street.

The project involves improvements to the intersection on Shirley Street.

It's expected the project will take around one month to complete.

Information about the Wordsworth Street upgrade is on Council's website.
