Federation Council's recent Grant Writing Workshop at the Corowa TAFE in September generated overwhelming interest and positive feedback from attendees, reinforcing local commitment to community and economic development across the region.
Designed to empower local business owners, community group leaders, and proactive residents, the session provided practical guidance on navigating funding applications, strengthening project governance, and articulating clear strategic visions for both commercial and non-profit projects.
Participants heard firsthand from local success stories, including representatives from the Corowa She Shed and the Corowa Community Garden, who shared how they successfully aligned their initiatives with clear goals and leveraged tools like Council's Grant Guru platform and .id economic modeling software.
Federation Council Mayor, Cr Cheryl Cook expressed her delight at the strong turnout and high level of engagement throughout the session.
"Our region thrives on the passion of our community organisations and local businesses," Mayor Cook said.
"Securing grant funding can turn a great vision into a reality, but knowing where to start can often feel daunting. It is fantastic to see so many dedicated community members taking advantage of these practical tools, governance foundations, and search strategies to write competitive applications."
Mayor Cook said the feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive.
"Seeing our local leaders collaborate, learn from success stories like the Corowa She Shed and Corowa Community Garden and build their skills ensures our community remains proactive and strong," she said.
"Council is proud to facilitate opportunities that directly build local capacity."
Hosted by Council's Grants Officer, Alex Campbell, the packed session reached capacity quickly, highlighting a strong local demand for grant-writing support. Council will evaluate future interest and community needs to explore options for additional sessions or ongoing resources.
