Emergency rehabilitation work is being undertaken on the Wool Road at Old Erowal Bay with the road expected to reopen over the weekend.
The road was temporarily closed on Thursday due to the impacts of heavy rainfall.
An engineering inspection undertaken Friday morning has determined that further repair works are required prior to opening the road to traffic.
Those repair works have commenced immediately and are expected to be completed Saturday.
The works will be reinspected when completed with the intention of reopening a single lane under 'stop go' arrangements as quickly as possible.
People are advised to expect delays and plan their journey appropriately. Residents may also use a detour via Tomerong, which takes around 20 minutes.
Pedestrian access at the site remains open.
Council will continue to update the community on the progress of the works.
