Working it Out, Fairer World to Launch Projects in Schools

Roger Jaensch, Minister for Education, Children and Youth

We know that when children and young people feel valued, safe and supported they are in the best position to learn.

Minister for Education, Children and Youth, Roger Jaensch, said the Rockliff Liberal Government was focused on providing young people with the education and training they need in a safe space.

"I am pleased to announce that the Department of Education, Children and Young People (DECYP) has signed Grant Deeds with community organisations Working it Out and A Fairer World," Minister Jaensch said.

"The funding will support the great work these organisations currently undertake to help schools build inclusive and respectful school cultures.

"Working it Out will receive $900,000 over three years (2024-2026) to continue to support Tasmanian Government Schools to provide inclusive and accepting environments for all students with a focus on LGBTIQA+ young people.

"A key focus will be on building capability of DECYP staff through professional learning.

"Funding of $436,000 over three years (2024-2026) is also being provided to A Fairer World to build on and extend their current programs so that more schools can address bullying and discrimination and build a culture of empathy, respect and wellbeing.

"I commend the excellent work that these two organisations undertake in helping to make our schools safe and supportive for all students."
