Works have commenced at Quarries Park in Clifton Hill for the upgrades to the dog off-leash area, delivering a safer, more enjoyable and better‑equipped space for dogs and their owners.
The upgrade includes:
a new dog park layout
new paths
a new shelter and seating
upgraded fencing along Wright Street and Yambla Street
new garden beds
a dedicated dog agility area
new tree planting
a new drinking fountain and bins.
These improvements will create a more welcoming, functional and accessible space for dogs and their owners.
Mayor Stephen Jolly said the upgraded dog off‑leash area reflects the needs of dogs and their owners.
"We asked the dogs of Clifton Hill (and their owners) what they wanted and they were clear: more safety, more places for their owners to sit and watch them play, and a brand-new dog agility area," he says. "You could say they really raised the woof on expectations."
"We all know that for many people, their pets are their family, which is why we've taken pets' views seriously and will deliver an improved dog off‑leash area for our furry friends to enjoy," says the Mayor.
These upgrades are supported by $270,000 from the Victorian Government through the New and Upgraded Dog Parks program, and $50,000 from Council.
The works will be complete in April, pending weather conditions.
