Workshop Offers Tips on Soils, Pests for Gardeners

Fancy yourself a potential green thumb? Don't miss Cessnock City Council's Soils, Pests and Predators workshop at Kurri Kurri Men's Shed and Community Garden from 9am-12pm on Saturday 13 June!

With an interest in growing food on the rise in our community, this workshop is a great way to get started on the journey to having a garden full of delicious and healthy things to eat.

The workshop is suitable for anyone growing or interested in growing their own food, and will include theory and hands-on sessions in the garden. Beginners and advanced growers alike will learn something - from what makes good soil and how to improve it over time to identifying and naturally controlling pests, and natural ways to fertilise a garden.

Cessnock City Mayor Daniel Watton encouraged the community to take up this fun and educational opportunity.

"It will be an enjoyable and informative morning among like-minded people," said Clr Watton.

"Don't miss this chance to gain some useful knowledge for the garden!"
