Wound with intent to murder charge after DV assault - Hebersham

A man has been charged with wounding with intent to murder after a woman was allegedly slashed with a broken bottle in a street in Sydney's west yesterday.

Officers attached to Mt Druitt Police Area Command were called Carlisle Avenue, Hebersham, about 3.15pm (Tuesday 3 May 2022), responding to reports of a domestic violence-related assault.

Police arrived and found a 34-year-old woman with multiple injuries to her throat after she was allegedly struck in the neck with a broken bottle.

Officers rendered first aid until NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived. They took her to Westmead Hospital where she's now reported to be in a stable condition.

A 38-year-old man was arrested at the scene and was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station, where he was charged with cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder, resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty, and breach of bail.

The man has been refused bail to appear at Mt Druitt Local Court today (Wednesday 4 May 2022).
