Rugby Australia and the ACT Brumbies are delighted to announce incumbent Wallabies fullback Tom Wright has re-signed with Australian Rugby for an additional three years.
Wright's deal through to 2028 includes the home Rugby World Cup in 2027 and continues a strong year of key players re-committing to Australian Rugby.
Wallaby number 939, Wright has represented the Wallabies in 37 Tests since making his debut against New Zealand in 2020, including 12 caps as starting fullback in 2024.
A Clovelly Eagles junior, Wright is born and bred in Sydney, having been educated at St Joseph's Hunters Hill where he played flyhalf in the 1st XV.
Straight after school he briefly spent time in the NRL before returning to the 15-player game in 2018, signing a multi-year deal with the ACT Brumbies ahead of the 2019 Super Rugby season.
In what was a breakthrough season, Wright was part of the Brumbies team that won the 2020 Super Rugby AU title, making his Test debut later that year and remarkably scoring with his first touch in international Rugby in a win over the All Blacks.
Wallaby number 939 and ACT Brumbies fullback Tom Wright said: "I'm extremely happy to have my long-term future secured here in Australia and with the Brumbies in Canberra.
"As a kid, all I ever dreamed of was representing the Wallabies and with the milestones coming up over the next few years, there's nowhere else I'd rather be playing my rugby.
"I feel I've got a lot of growth still in me as a player and I'll be continuing to work hard to hopefully contribute to success with the Brumbies and the Wallabies."
Rugby Australia's Director of High Performance Peter Horne said: "Tom has developed into an excellent outside back and we are happy to have come to an agreement to keep him in Australian Rugby for a further three years, taking him beyond the home Rugby World Cup in 2027.
"He has established himself as a consistent and popular member of the Wallabies squad and we feel he is entering the prime of his career as a Test player which is exciting for supporters of Australian Rugby with the significant milestones on the horizon."
ACT Brumbies Head Coach Stephen Larkham said: "Tom has been one of our standout players for the last couple of seasons.
"He is a big part of this club and brings with him a huge amount of leadership on and off field. It's wonderful news to have him re-sign with the Brumbies for another three years."
