By the time he was in seventh grade, Aidan Jordan had shown a natural flair for the violin - and an appetite to keep learning. In a video, Jordan, a junior at Cooperative Arts and Humanities High School in New Haven, shares his journey as a musician, and how the Music in Schools initiative - a partnership between the Yale School of Music and the New Haven Public Schools - has helped nurture his development as a musician and as a student. Through the program, Yale postgraduate fellow Sory Park has worked alongside Aidan's teacher, Henry Lugo, providing the kind of specialized instruction that helps him refine his musical techniques while enriching classroom instruction. "I'm literally seeing how he is growing, musically and personally," Park said. "It's just like he's my little brother."
