Yarra Unveils New Infrastructure and Asset Plans

Yarra City Council

Yarra City Council adopted two key strategic documents: the Community Infrastructure Plan and the 10-Year Asset Plan, at its October meeting.

Both plans were shaped by three stages of community engagement, including ideas and feedback gathered during the development of the 2025-29 Council Plan, and a Community Working Group that took part in a deliberative process. Drafts of both documents were released for public feedback in July 2025, which helped refine the final versions.

The Community Infrastructure Plan sets a strategic framework to guide planning for existing and future community infrastructure across Yarra. It supports evidence-based decision-making about which services and facilities to prioritise, with a focus on spaces that benefit more people, more often. Community input has informed the plan's vision, objectives and principles, which will direct how infrastructure is planned and delivered.

The 10-Year Asset Plan provides a long-term roadmap—supported by specialist asset management reviews—for using and managing Council's buildings, transport and stormwater assets, and open space. It outlines how these assets will be stewarded across their lifecycle to deliver services in a financially sustainable manner and to help Council understand the long-term impacts of asset decisions.
