With the new public boat ramp now open at Cullens Road offering better access, parking and safety, Moira Shire Council is reviewing public access to the older ramp inside the Yarrawonga Holiday Park.
Public access closure to the Holiday Park ramp was foreshadowed several years ago by the previous Council once the Cullens Road facility was constructed.
Access to the older ramp has created ongoing operational and safety challenges for the Holiday Park. Transitioning public use to the Cullens Road boat ramp will allow the park to better manage the site, including implementing future improvements to traffic flow and overall amenity.
Moira Shire Council Chair Administrator Graeme Emonson PSM said Council wants to hear from the community before making any final decisions.
"Whether you're a regular user, a local business, or someone who cares about river access, Council wants to understand how this proposal could affect you," Dr Emonson said.
"We know the ramp inside the Holiday Park has been popular for many years. But with the new Cullens Road facility now open, we believe it can meet the needs of both locals and visitors."
This review only affects public use. Patrons of the Holiday Park will still be able to use the old ramp.
Community engagement is open until Wednesday 10 September 2025.
