YAS recipient dancing her way to success

Wodonga Council is pleased to announce Eden Yelland as the winner of the March YAS award.

The Young Achiever Scheme is aimed at assisting young people in their pursuits to participate at a state or national level for activities, events or competitions.

Eden, 15, has been dancing and training in ballet for 10 years.

She started full-time training this year and has been practicing her craft at an elite level for three years.

Eden has performed and competed in many competitions and workshops all over Australia and New Zealand.

The young ballerina hopes to learn and grow as a dancer in confidence and technique.

The money she receives for the YAS award will be used towards attending the Berlin State Ballet School Summer Intensive in Germany at the end of July this year.

The two-week training intensive is awarded by audition only into the prestigious Berlin State Ballet School.

It includes training with more than 10 ballet instructors from many international ballet schools.

She is hoping to be offered a full-time position at the school for 2021.

Eden dances/trains five days a week and completes her schooling by distance education after training and on weekends.
