As part of its efforts to support evidence-based social policies, ESCWA, in cooperation with the Yemeni Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation and other public entities represented in the Social Expenditure Monitor (SEM) Project Committee, organized a national workshop on SEM implementation in the country.
Developed by ESCWA, SEM is a tool that helps governments track social spending and assesses its effectiveness in meeting the needs of the population, particularly the most vulnerable groups. It also supports the identification of spending gaps and the improvement of resource allocation towards priority sectors.
The workshop, held in Aden on 24 and 25 June, aimed to strengthen the capacity of national officials to use and further develop the Monitor's indicators, enhance coordination among relevant stakeholders, and agree on the next steps for its implementation.
