Some of Hobart's best and emerging young artists will light up the night this Friday at Mathers Lane.
Light Up the Lane is an all ages, drug and alcohol-free event held on the 5th of May.
In celebration of Youth Week TAS we are showcasing local young creatives set to the theme of "Be Bold, Be You."
In total there will be 50 young people showcasing their artwork via light projections across Mathers and Criterion Lanes and an additional 30 performers staging live music, dance, DJ, rap, drag, fashion across three stages.
There will also be food trucks, a mini market and interactive "glow with the flow" art activity.
Hobart Welcoming and Inclusive City Portfolio Chair Cr Dr Zelinda Sherlock said this was a chance for the City's young artists to shine.
"'Be Bold, Be You' beautifully sums up the approach we want our young people to take," Cr Dr Sherlock said.
"Giving young artists the chance to showcase their work and talents in a public space will help them thrive and explore and expand their art."
Singer and ukulele musician Ipshita Pratap will be performing a traditional and contemporary Bollywood set at Light Up the Lane for the first time.
"I'm very excited," Ms Pratap, 24, said.
"It is very beneficial to have events like this.
"The world is becoming more and more interconnected so having multicultural artists perform at an event like this sets a strong precedent for multicultural ties and acceptance.
"Artists like me who come from miles away from another part of the world, it is a huge opportunity for us because it shows Hobart is a very accepting place for us.
"It also gives me great pleasure to share my music."
Cr Dr Sherlock said the Light Up the Lane showed the best of the City.
"Diversity, talent, wild imaginations and a real community vibe will all be on display on Friday night," Cr Dr Sherlock said.
"I urge everyone to get a long and support this event and all the wonderful artists involved." Ends.
